Truthful Trucking
In the transportation industry, honesty is a door that swings both ways. Not only are drivers seeking employment and expecting a straight-up recruiter to give them the honest scoop on what to anticipate with a potential company, there is also a certain level of honesty that recruiters require out of potential driving candidates as well. And as long as we’re being honest here, both sides could certainly learn a thing or two from the other.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Last week I wrote about how I wrap up our business at the end of a year. This week I will talk about processes to hit the ground running in the new year.
First, let me just say that I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. Whether you decided to keep working or went home for some much needed family time or enjoyed down time to recharge physically, emotionally and mentally I hope that you are spending the holidays in a way that makes you happy.
Now, le...
Tips for Your Trips In 2025
Most people make resolutions to mark the beginning of a new year. And, most folks also tend to break their resolutions within the first months of the new year as well. Precisely why I don’t like to make resolutions, I prefer to set goals. This past year, I set three goals for 2024 and was able to achieve one of them. So, with a freshly new 2025 upon us, I’ve rolled over the previous two goals that went unaccomplished and I’ve added a new one. Let’s see how this year p...
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 2024
From the team at ExpeditersOnline.com, we’d like to take a few moments to pause and reflect on how the years may seem to endlessly advance but the base formula for expedited gift shopping and giving remains unchanged.
During the holidays, many in the truck driving community that we love and hold dear are busy working to help maintain an economy that is largely based on buying and selling. Most folks don’t typically consider much beyond the customary exchanging of funds in...
Getting Ready For 2025
Every year around this time of year Stephen spends a day or two getting ready for the new year. This includes starting to wrap up the current year we are in.
He starts to make sure all the receipts for the current year are present and filled correctly by the category they are suppose to be in. You would be surprise to find that he finds many that are in the “wrong” spot. Gee go figure we get in a hurry and just stuff them ins somewhere.
Also, for this year he makes ...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
In my final blog of the year I would like to wish everyone reading this a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. What traditions do you enjoy during this holiday season? Let me get a little nostalgic here to tell you a few of our Christmas traditions.
As a child, Christmas Eve was always going to church to participate in the Christmas program that all the school age children put on. While we waiting in the car to go to church, mom was quickly...
End of Year Processes
End of Year Processes
As we near the end of another calendar year there are certain things that we try to do in order to close out the fiscal year of our business. What processes to you have in place to close out the year? Do you schedule maintenance appointments for your equipment so that you are ready to go in the new year? Do you try to work as much as possible to bring up your year end revenue? Or do you go home to get ready for the busy holiday season?
In the past, we ha...
Time Off
Time Off
Today I was working on one of the many spreadsheets I have created to keep track of our business numbers. This particular spreadsheet keeps track of the miles we have driven this year as well as how many days we were on the road. Because we are a team I keep track of each of us in separate columns and then have another column for the combined total of miles driven. I also have the spreadsheet separated by month so I can see how many miles we drove per month. Finally,...
Insurance Fraud
Just recently we got a “letter” (email) from our insurance company who covers our straight truck. In this letter they were talking about they have seen a sharp rise in claims in recent months. They wanted to share with us things they are doing to combat the three top things they see as the biggest fraud. They are:
1. Vandalism
2. Suspicious Fires
3. Theft
The company has also stepped-up claim investigations and has a zero-tolerance approach t...
