Do You Use AI?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming more common every day. Is AI something you use personally? Do you use it in your business? I have to admit that at first I was nervous about using the new technology. Lately, I have found it useful for both business and personal uses.

In business, I have found that it helps me to put my thoughts together in a more professional way. Some might say that the work is no longer mine. I will politely disagree. Remember when you were in school and had to write a paper on a specific topic or do a book report? How many of you used the cliff notes of a book as a shortcut to reading an entire novel? How many of you used encyclopedias or other books to write a paper on any given topic? Back in the day, those were the tools that were available to us to help do research to prove a point being made in a paper. Today we are fortunate to have AI that can save us many hours of research time to make us more productive.

Recently, I used AI to look up information on a used vehicle. All I had to do was type in the VIN number of the vehicle and AI gave me everything it could find. It took all of five or ten minutes rather than taking hours or days to complete the same task.

I also used AI to help me write a book. I have a title and gave AI an outline of the ideas I have for chapters in the book. In a days time AI produced not only a book but also had created a front cover for the book as well as a PDF of helpful study tools that the reader can use as they make their way through the book. Is the work mine? Some might say it is not. I will say that the idea is mine. AI simply helped me to take the idea, expand on it and turn it into something that could be useful to many others. I am still working on editing to add my own style. I simply used a shortcut to get from the idea or concept to a finished product. I am not sure what I will do with it once I am done with it. If nothing else, I can honestly say that the entire process has given me ideas that I had never given a thought to before. Either way, I got something out of the time spent working on the project.

So, what do you think? Is there room in our lives for AI? Can businesses use artificial intelligence for the benefit of others? Finally, where do we draw the line? Do we need to draw a line? Do we need to claim when something was doing using AI? By the way, this article was written without using AI.

Here’s to millions of safe, profitable and INTELLIGENT miles.
