Headset Review

Last week was filled with a little bit of work and a whole lot of fun. Here's hoping you had some of the same! We also purchased a new headset for me. When using my old headset I noticed that the volume seemed to be not working right and others said they had a hard time hearing me despite the fact that I had a great phone signal.

The beginning of the week found us making a delivery close to home. With no other loads available we decided to take advantage of some home time. On our way home we stopped at several truck stops to find me a new headset. My old headset was a Shokz that I enjoyed very much. I liked the fact that it went over my ears and not in my ears. I decided to stay with the Shokz brand; however, an over the ear version was not available. The new headset is a bone conducting headset meaning that the ear piece rests in front of the ear rather than in the ear. I found the headset to be very comfortable; however, there are some concerns as well. First, because the headset goes over the head those who wear hats might find wearing it to be uncomfortable. Second, I found this unit to be rather bulky in comparison to my first headset. The unit does not sit snuggly on my head which makes me fear that it will fall off while in use. On the plus side, the sound is great. The volume is very good both in phone use as well as listening to audio books. Over time I hope to become comfortable with the new fit and features of the new version of the Shokz headset.

Now to the fun part of the week. The company to which we are leased has safety meetings monthly. This month the Safety Department hosted a riverboat cruise on the St Croix River. We have not had the opportunity to take this cruise until this year. We packed a bag, loaded up the pickup truck and headed to the St Croix River area. Our dog, Rocky, came with us. We made our way to the hotel and found it to be very comfortable. Rocky had a great time meeting new people. The hotel staff was so kind to him. They gave him treats and petted him to his delight. The cruise ship was a four story boat that had some closed in areas as well as open decks. As usual, our company did not disappoint. There was the expected safety meeting, followed by a delicious lunch and finally ended with prizes given. Both Dave and I walked away with some very nice swag. We came home feeling energized after having made some new friends as well as spending time with familiar faces. Last week was definitely one for the memoirs!

Here's to millions of safe, profitable and FUN miles.
